Managing osteoarthritis in dogs: A team-based approach to at-home care

Osteoarthritis is a non-curative disease that impacts the dog physically, physiologically, cognitively and emotionally. It drives complex clinical presentations which require the knowledge, skills and availability of a team approach to best manage not only the disease but its consequential illness for the rest of that dog’s life.

- Acknowledge the pressures placed upon the caregiver’s budgets when managing a dog with osteoarthritis over the long term.

Dr. Hannah Capon, MA Vet MB MRCVS, CCR

Dr Hannah Capon is an experienced veterinarian, award winning online educator and international speaker. She continues to work in first opinion practice with a special interest in chronic pain management specifically osteoarthritis in canines. She has been awarded the Chris Laurence Vet of The Year, the RCVS Impact Award and has recently been presented with the World Small Animal Veterinary Association’s Companion Animal Welfare Award for her tireless work on Canine Arthritis Management, an online education resource for both dog owners and professionals. Her area of interest is maximizing the vet client patient relationship in osteoarthritis management to achieve optimal multimodal management plans.
